BASIC OF CRYPTOGRAPHY TERMINOLOGY

CRYPTOGRAPHY: The art of science of keeping message is secure is cryptography.

       Plaintext:   the original intelligible message.

     Cipher: the transformed message.

Encryption: it is a process of converting plaintext into ciphertext with a specified key.

Decryption: it is a process of converting ciphertext into plaintext with a specified key.
KEY: some critical information used by the cipher, known only to the sender & receiver.

Symmetric key: a Symmetric key is a single key encryption. In this sender and receiver both used the same key for encryption and decryption of information or message.

Asymmetric key: an Asymmetric key is a pair of the key (public key and private key).
Sender and receiver have different key to encrypt and decrypt information.
If sender encrypts information by using the public key then receiver used the private key to decrypt information.
